Let’s talk about something we all deal with…STRESS!
My stress level has been very high since Monday evening due to phone issues, not only with my personal line but also with my business line (which was the most stressful part). I was able to add my business line to an old phone because it uses the internet, but my personal line is still not fixed. I spent 6 hours (not an exaggeration) in the Verizon store on Monday trying to get it fixed and another 2 hours on the phone that night. I have no idea how many hours on Tuesday, but yesterday afternoon I was on the phone from 4:30pm to 10pm without a resolution (it is a technical glitch). The saga will continue today. It takes a lot to get me really stressed, but this was enough to do it! I was able to implement a few stress-reducing strategies that have really helped. Since everyone is different, I wanted to share some unique ideas that go beyond the typical advice given. So here we go!

  • Stargazing Session: If it’s nighttime, take a moment to gaze at the stars. The vastness of the universe can put your problems into perspective. This is something I do regularly!
  • Bicycle Escape: Go for a ride on your bicycle, even if it’s just around the block. The wind in your hair and the rhythm of pedaling can be incredibly freeing.
  • Mindful Eating: Savor a piece of fruit or a small snack mindfully. Pay attention to the taste, texture, and aroma. It’s like a mini vacation for your taste buds. A little piece of good chocolate is my choice!
  • Aromatherapy Shower: Use essential oils like lavender or eucalyptus in your shower. The steam combined with soothing scents can wash away stress. Make sure you do not slip or make it too hot, which can cause dizziness.
  • Get yourself an adult coloring book and some colored pencils. Lose yourself in intricate designs and let your creativity flow. I love getting lost in coloring an intricate design.
  • Explore a new country or city through virtual tours and videos online. It’s a great way to satisfy your wanderlust from the comfort of your home. I have not personally tried this yet, but you can visit pretty much anywhere in the world virtually.
  • Spend quality time with your furry friend. The unconditional love and playfulness of pets can instantly lift your spirits. Just petting your pets is calming.
  • Wake up early to catch a sunrise. The peacefulness of dawn can be a serene and rejuvenating experience. I also love the sunset!
  • Sing your heart out! Whether you’re a pro or just singing in the shower, belting out your favorite tunes can be incredibly cathartic. You can often find me singing without regard driving around in my car.
  • Challenge your brain with a jigsaw puzzle, crossword, or Sudoku. It’s a fun way to divert your focus and relax your mind. My go-to is easy crossword puzzles.
Remember, managing stress is a personal journey, and it’s all about finding what works best for you. Feel free to mix and match these tactics or invent your own unique stress-relief methods. Please share any additional tips you may have!
